Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using MyBasirah, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

What MyBasirah is

MyBasirah is a platform for Islamic reflection and discernment. It is not a religious authority, a certification service, or a substitute for qualified scholarly advice. Listing a person on the platform, or omitting them, does not constitute endorsement, certification, condemnation or judgement by MyBasirah or its signatories.

User accounts

You may create an account to save and revisit your activity. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for activity carried out through it. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us promptly.

Your submissions

You agree that anything you submit to MyBasirah will be lawful, honest and respectful. In particular:

• reflections must describe your own genuine experience and not be made on someone else's behalf
• recommendations, endorsements and contact messages must be accurate and not abusive
• you must not submit content that is defamatory, threatening, harassing, unlawful, impersonating, or that invades another person's privacy

You remain responsible for the content of your submissions and for any consequences of sharing them.

Moderation

MyBasirah may review, hide, remove or decline submissions and listings where appropriate. The inclusion, exclusion, or removal of a person or a submission does not amount to endorsement, certification, condemnation or judgement.

Intellectual property

The site design, text and other content of MyBasirah belong to MyBasirah or the respective rights holders. You retain ownership of content you submit, but you grant MyBasirah a limited licence to process and display it as necessary to operate the service, including showing aggregated reflection patterns and administering listings.

Third-party services

MyBasirah links to and relies on third-party services such as Google and Meta for sign-in, and may link to external websites. These services have their own terms and privacy practices, and MyBasirah is not responsible for their content or how they handle your data.

Availability and no guarantee

We make reasonable efforts to keep MyBasirah available and accurate, but we do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times. To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided without warranties, and we are not liable for losses arising from its use.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will review the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of MyBasirah after a change indicates your acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are intended to be governed by the laws of England and Wales. If a different jurisdiction is more appropriate for your situation, please contact us to confirm. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales so far as is consistent with applicable law.
